Dearborn Heights welcomes new South end candy/snack store

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI (9/18/17) –  Dearborn Heights Mayor Dan Paletko joined city officials, staff and officers from the city’s Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA), and employees & friends of the new Snack Depot store for its grand opening/ribbon cutting celebration September 14.

The 7,500 square foot store, which specializes in candy and snack foods,is one of 3 stores in greater Detroit which is owned by Al Dabish.  Dabish has been involved in the snack food wholesale business for several years. “All of my stores are dedicated to giving our customers a great variety of candy and snack foods, and we do our best to bring these items to our customers at wholesale prices”, Dabish explained.  His other 2 stores are located in Warren and Flint.

The Beech Daly store was previously owned by Dabish’s Father-In-Law, George Awdish, who operated the store as the Sunshine Market from 1967 to 1984.  The store has sat vacant for several years, so both Dabish and Awdish are pleased to bring the store “back to life” for local customers.  “We believe Dearborn Heights is a great location for our store, and we are excited to see the store open once again.”

The city’s Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA) is in the process of working with Dabish to make further improvements to the property through its Business Improvement Program.  Anyone looking to open a business or improve their commercial property within the TIFA District can visit their website, www.tifadh.com, for more information.
