Robichaud High School Officially Opens New Athletic Track

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI (9/11/10) –  Dearborn Heights Mayor Dan Paletko joined City, TIFA and Westwood School District officials at the August 27, 2010, ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Robichaud High School athletic track, just prior to the football team’s first game of the season.

Shown holding the ribbon (l to r) are TIFA Board Chair Exie Markowsky, Westwood Schools Superintendent Sue Carnell, Dearborn Heights Mayor Dan Paletko, and Westwood Schools Athletic Director Vern Crump.

Supported by a $358,000 grant from the Dearborn Heights Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA), the new track will allow the school to once again host “home” track meets (which has not been possible for several seasons due to the poor condition of the existing track).

The track will also be open to the public for walkers and joggers.  Designated “open track” times will be advertised in the near future.
