DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI (1/20/21) – The year 2020 saw many projects put on hold due to the COVID-19 situation. However, Fire Station #1, located at the intersection of Telegraph Road and Annapolis Street in the TIFA District, received some necessary improvements thanks to funding from the Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA).
The lockers used by our first responders for their gear and other personal items were in greatly deteriorated condition. After decades of use and numerous temporary (and sometimes even creative) attempts to make the old lockers still useful, it was finally decided the time had come to replace them.
Upon learning of this important need, the TIFA Board approved just over $14,000 toward the purchase and installation of brand new lockers at the station. The lockers have been installed and are greatly appreciated by our men and women in uniform.
“We continue to be appreciative of the support we receive from our city’s TIFA,” said Fire Chief David Brogan. “Having these basic needs met allows us to better focus our attention and resources on serving the community to the best of our ability.”
Other projects at Fire Station #1 made possible over the years by the Dearborn Heights TIFA include building upgrades and various equipment purchases.
