DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI (3/31/10) – Mayor Dan Paletko, State Rep. Bob Constan, and other officials from the Dearborn Heights community welcomed SunGlo Carpet Cleaning at a ribbon cutting celebration organized by the Dearborn Heights Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA) on Monday, March 29.
Mayor Paletko expressed the city’s delight in SunGlo’s decision to move to Dearborn Heights and wished them much success, emphasizing that “when the businesses in our city are successful, the city is successful.”
SunGlo recently expanded their business by moving into their new headquarters on S. Beech Daly (at Princeton St.) from their former facility in Taylor. They undertook an extensive renovation of the 19,000+ sq. ft. location, aided in part by a $20,000.00 TIFA Business Improvement Program grant. TIFA Chairperson Exie Markowsky was on hand, along with several members of the TIFA Board, for the official presentation of the grant check.
“It is a pleasure to welcome SunGlo into our city,” said TIFA Administrator Carmine Oliverio. “Their relocation is especially encouraging for us knowing that our Business Improvement Program grant was a significant factor in making their move to Dearborn Heights possible. We hope that other businesses looking for a new home, as well as expansion, will take a serious look at our TIFA District and contact us to see how we may be able to help them.”
SunGlo owner Michael Capatina thanked everyone for the kind welcome saying, “We are excited to be a part of the Dearborn Heights community and look forward to many years in our new home. Of all the cities I have worked with in the past, my recent experience with the Dearborn Heights TIFA and city administration has been the best.”
SunGlo provides both residential and commercial carpet, upholstery and emergency flood cleaning services. They can be contacted for a free estimate by calling (313) 292-3400, or through their website, www.sunglocc.com.
This is the second business to complete a renovation project utilizing the TIFA Business Improvement Program through which businesses in the TIFA district may be eligible to receive matching grants toward improvements to their properties.
In addition, the TIFA office keeps an updated database of properties available for development in the district, including restaurant facilities, which it distributes to potential investors and developers. More information can be found online at www.tifadh.com.
