DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI (11/17/14) – Crews began work today on trimming trees along the neighborhood streets in the TIFA District. Only those trees located in the right-of-way, between the sidewalk and curb, will be affected.
Recently, the TIFA Board authorized $25,000 to be spent toward this project. “We always tried to keep a 5-year cycle for trimming trees throughout the area,” said TIFA Administrator Carmine Oliverio. “We have fallen a little behind of where we’d like to be in that cycle due to reduced revenues, but we were able to put some money toward the trees this year.”
Planning of the project was done in cooperation with the city’s Department of Public Works, and is utilizing the city’s tree trimming contractor.
The work began on the streets between South Beech Daly and Gulley Roads, from Dartmouth down to Van Born, and will continue until the funds are depleted. It is TIFA’s hope that funds will be available to continue trimming the trees throughout the district in future years.
