DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI (1/23/19) – Residents and neighbors looking to dispose of their unwanted and expired medications safely can now do so at the Dearborn Heights Police Department. Safe medication disposal will help prevent theft and abuse of these substances, as well as help prevent dangerous accidents involving children.
Located within the Dearborn Heights Justice Center at 25637 Michigan Avenue (at S. Beech Daly St.), the clearly-marked, secure collection bin can be found inside the main lobby next to the Police Desk.
Prescription and over-the-counter medications may be deposited in the bin 24 hours a day. Items not accepted in the bin, however, are illegal drugs, inhalers, needles, lotions or liquids, aerosol cans, and thermometers.
Built and opened in 2003 thanks to funding from TIFA, the Justice Center is centrally located in the City of Dearborn Heights and easily accessible for all residents.
This collection program is conducted by the Dearborn Heights Police Department, thanks in part to KidCents and The Rite Aid Foundation.
