DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI (9/15/22) – Residents and visitors will notice the streets getting a little brighter throughout the city of Dearborn Heights thanks to the efforts of the city’s administration with some financial assistance from the Tax Increment Finance Authority.
Beginning earlier this Summer, crews from DTE Energy began replacing the city’s existing street lights with new, more energy efficient LED lights. The TIFA Board approved contributing more than $79,000 to cover the cost of replacing all the streetlights within the boundaries of the TIFA District, one of the first areas of the city to begin receiving this upgrade.
While there is a significant initial investment, the city will realize substantial savings into the future due to much lower monthly energy charges from DTE as a result of utilizing the LED bulbs.
