DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI (7/15/21) – The administration of the John F. Kennedy Library, located at 24602 Van Born Road, routinely examines possible ways to improve the infrastructure at the library. Among the potential enhancements identified in recent years was the addition of an emergency exit door in an area of the building that was somewhat obstructed from other exits.
The Dearborn Heights Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA) covered the entire cost for the addition of the new door, which was implemented in a way that blended into the already existing window design.
“Built in 2004, JFK library received special recognition for its innovative and harmonious design,” said TIFA Administrator Tom Rosco. “We are happy that we were able to enhance occupant safety without negatively impacting the aesthetics of this special building.”
In addition to occasional upgrades of the library, each year TIFA pays for almost half of the annual bond payment toward paying off the construction of the facility.
JFK Library is currently open Monday-Thursday 12-8pm & Friday-Saturday 12-5pm. Visit the Dearborn Heights Libraries website for more information: https://www.dhcl.michlibrary.org
