TIFA Helps Robichaud with New Track

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI (7/12/10) – Dearborn Heights Mayor Dan Paletko joined City, State and Westwood School District officials at the June 14 ground breaking ceremony of the new Robichaud High School athletic track.

Supported by a $280,000 grant from the Dearborn Heights Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA), the new track will allow the school to once again host “home” track meets (which has not been possible for several seasons due to the poor condition of the existing track).

The track will also be open to the public for walkers and joggers.

Shown holding shovels are TIFA Board Chair Exie Markowsky (left), Westwood Schools Board Member K. Isaac King (assisting outgoing Westwood Schools Superintendent Ernando Minghine), Robichaud High School Athletic Director Vern Crump (assisting Mayor Dan Paletko), and State Representative Robert Constan.

An official ribbon cutting ceremony is planned to take place during the first home football game in August.  More details will be announced as they become available.
