TIFA to sponsor new lights in Daly Park

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI (3/24/16) –  The Dearborn Heights Tax Increment Finance Authority (TIFA) has announced that it will be sponsoring the installation of twelve (12) brand new LED lights in Daly Park, located within the boundaries of the TIFA District.

The TIFA Office had been working with DTE over the last few years, in which time the technology and cost of LED lighting has improved significantly.  Having received a formal cost estimate from DTE of just over $36,000, the TIFA Board approved the necessary funds at one of their regular meetings and forwarded the request to the City Council who also unanimously approved the project.

“Adequate lighting in Daly Park has been a concern of our residents for years now,” said TIFA Administrator Carmine Oliverio.  “Together with regular park clean-ups and neighborhood watch patrols, the safety and attractiveness of Daly Park should be significantly improved by this latest investment.  Recreation is an important part of our community and we hope the residents will take full advantage of what our park has to offer.”

TIFA Assistant Administrator Tom Rosco announced the project at a recent meeting of the Southwest Dearborn Heights Neighborhood Association (the neighborhood in which Daly Park is located).  Those at the meeting were happy to hear of this action and thanked TIFA for their continued support.

Removal of the old lights and installation of the new ones is scheduled to take place this Spring.
